Field Manual No. 1

The Identity Lockdown

Protect yourself and your family from identity theft with Johnny Action's field guide.

Inside the Manual

Five steps this weekend

The Identity Lockdown is a compact action sheet for identity-theft prevention and recovery. It starts with the claim that a person is a target, then turns that concern into five concrete actions: freeze credit, turn on alerts, use a password manager, enable multi-factor authentication, and keep the page for the day a breach letter arrives.

The manual also gives daily habits for safer account handling and a five-step response if identity theft occurs. It names federal and Florida resources from the PDF, including annualcreditreport.com, identitytheft.gov, and the Florida Attorney General victim kit.

The manual contains general safety information. Use the listed agencies and official contact details to verify current procedures before acting.

The core approach

Reduce access. Add a second check. Keep a recovery path.

Freeze Credit

The manual directs readers to contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion separately. A freeze is presented as a free federal protection and the first weekend action.

Strengthen Accounts

Turn on bank and card alerts, use different strong passwords through a password manager, and add MFA to email, banking, and retirement accounts.

Respond Without Panic

If identity is stolen, the sequence is freeze all three bureaus, change passwords and enable MFA, report to identitytheft.gov, file a police report, and use the Florida victim resource named in the manual.

The checklist inside

What You'll Find Inside

  • Credit freeze contacts: separate phone numbers for all three major bureaus.
  • Account alerts: prompts for charges, new accounts, and address changes.
  • Password separation: a password-manager recommendation so one key does not open every door.
  • MFA: a direct reminder to protect email, bank, and retirement accounts.
  • Daily habits: type account addresses yourself, check credit reports every three months, read statements, and verify alarming notices through independently found numbers.
  • Stolen-identity response: a five-step recovery order and the manual's standing-order question: can you certify what you are holding?

Use it as a printable field guide

Keep the response where you can reach it

Print the manual and keep it with the household's important papers. Use the first five steps as a weekend setup, then work through the daily habits as recurring checks. When a breach notice or suspicious account event arrives, use the recovery order instead of trying to remember every step under pressure.

The guide is also designed to be handed to somebody else. Its final instruction is a standing order to verify what you are holding before you send it, click it, or trust it.

THE IDENTITY LOCKDOWN — FIVE STEPS THIS WEEKEND
FIELD MANUAL NO. 1
Florida is #1 in America for identity theft — one new victim every 2.9 minutes.
You are not paranoid. You are a target.
1
FREEZE YOUR CREDIT — TODAY
Free by federal law. Do all three, separately. Equifax 1-800-685-1111 • Experian 1-888-397-3742 • TransUnion 1-888-909-8872
2
TURN ON ALERTS
Call your bank and every card. Text/email on any charge, new account, or address change.
3
GET A PASSWORD MANAGER
One key should not open every door. It remembers a different strong password for every account.
4
TURN ON MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (MFA)
A thief can have your password and still be locked out, because he does not have your phone. 25 seconds. Turn it on for email, bank, and
retirement.
5
KEEP THIS PAGE
When the breach letter shows up — and it is coming — you do not panic. You pull out this page and follow it.
YOUR DAILY HABITS
• Never click a link in an urgent email or text about your account. Type the
address yourself, every time.
• Check your credit reports every 3 months — free at
annualcreditreport.com.
• Read every Medicare, insurance, and bank statement. A doctor you never
saw is not an error — it is a person.
• Verify a scary notice by a number you look up. Never the number in the
message.
IF YOUR IDENTITY IS STOLEN
1. Freeze all three bureaus.
2. Change every password, turn on MFA.
3. Report at identitytheft.gov for your FTC recovery plan.
4. File a police report.
5. Florida AG victim kit: myfloridalegal.com.
YOUR STANDING ORDER
Can you certify what you are holding? If yes — you ship it. If no — you stop, you verify, or you walk away. We are data. Keep the signal clean.
